Jordan King (born 26 February 1994) is a British racing driver who competes with MP Motorsport in the 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship.[1] The son of former Sainsbury's CEO Justin King, King has competed in both the GP2 Series and F2, and would compete in the 2019 season alongside a campaign in the World Endurance Championship.[1]
Background[]
King spent the majority of his younger life in karting, before making his debut in a race car in 2010, joining the Formula Renault UK Winter series ahead of a full campaign in 2011.[2] King would also compete in the short-lived FIA Formula Two Championship during that season, alongside his Formula Renault commitments, as well as the MRF Formula 1600 India series.[2] King won the MRF Championship at the end of 2011, and became a semi-regular point scorer in the other series.[2]
Rung Out[]
King moved onto the NEC version of Formula Renault in 2012, while also taking part in the Eurocup sister series.[2] Second in the NEC earned King a seat in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship for 2013, as well as a full campaign in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship.[2] King duly claimed the crown in British F3, while also securing sixth in the European series.[2]
2014 saw King dedicate all of his attention to F3 Europe, claiming seventh at the end of the season and a test in a Formula One car.[2]
GP2/Formula Two History[]
Post GP2/Formula Two Career[]
King became a test/development driver for the Manor F1 Team in 2015, serving in the back-of-the-field team for two seasons.[3] 2018 would see King secure a half-season in the IndyCar Series, taking part in several major races including the Indy 500.[4] King would also secure a seat in the World Endurance Championship at the end of 2018, ending the "Super Season" in the LMP2 class.[5]
